Almost time for pie again.

[Famine]

After tasting everything you sent, and thinking about it, and seeing which stuffing and which pie whose taste I was still wanting more of after a few days, I can say that stuffing C and the last pie were my favourites! I liked the other stuffings, too, and the pies really didn't last as long as they probably should have, but those were the best, for me!

Thank you very much. It was so sweet of you to send them!

[Private to friends]

I was very happy to have company for Thanksgiving last year, and since it was a very nice time spent together, I'm extending the same offer this year. I'll be up at the retreat for about a week again, and anyone who would like to come and stay for a day or two or the whole time is more than welcome.

If anyone would like their room to be a little more private, that can easily be arranged!

It's good to see friends return. Absence is always felt.

Chastity responds to Michael's post, stating what likely didn't need to be said. She's always been happy to help where it's needed, and to be there for anyone who needs her. She also knows it's not very likely that she'll be called upon. She's fought many battles over her long lifetime, but out and out fighting with swords and blood, holy or not, is beyond her. She leaves the discussion of why and if to those it concerns, and thinks of it only as she mentioned to the archangel - as a warning. Her computer is left dark at her desk, and instead her window is opened wide to the night and the stars.

Behind her on the kitchen table is an empty vase, with a fake butterfly resting against it.

As she sits by the window, none of her worries are for herself.

No leaving the city this weekend.....not for me! People have family to visit, and past experience has taught me this particular weekend is best used.....not having people at the retreat. Which reminds me, if anyone has books they'd like to give away, I'm trying to collect some to bring up with me next time.

Moss, Green and Lush are still doing very well. I had sort of thought they might not, that I would somehow manage to send them the way of other plants before them, but they're as pretty as ever. Eight months is a record for houseplants and I.

On the other hand, the baking I did today.....well, not everything can turn out so well!

Cookies were waiting for me when I got back!

Thank you, Eve. They're very good! I had one with a cup of tea and it was wonderful. I also started a book I've been wanting to read....your package made for a lovely afternoon.

Remy...do you have any spare time this week?

I don't know where they came from, but thank you, whoever put them in front of my door! Maybe they weren't for me, maybe it was a random act of kindness, but I still have to say thank you. They were a nice start to my day!

I saw so many people celebrating in their way today.....I think tomorrow and even later tonight, they'll be feeling badly.

The kids in your care, Remy, did they do the same? If you need to look after any of them, if you need any help, I'd be happy to do anything I can!

I'm going away this week-end, and any friend is welcome to come along. I will be taking care of odds and ends, as I haven't been up there for some time. It will be quiet, and it is very beautiful this time of year.

I should be back early in the coming week! I have to check on things, and will probably be hosting another retreat in the near future. I also have to go ice skating!

I feel as though something changed. Did it?

Usually I'm still quite sick at the end of the first day of the new year, but it hasn't been as bad this time. I don't feel entirely well, but I soon will. I can feel it.

Things seem so much clearer today. I remember all sorts of things, I haven't stumbled once. I feel a little better, a little more like the me I used to be.

It feels good.

It feels good to reach out and help so many, to give them that extra bit of resolve they sometimes need. I can also feel them reaching for me. Even last night, today, times where it's usually all I can do to keep myself feeling good enough to help even a few, I was able to do so much.

Viewable to all, including mortals

"The essence of chastity is not the suppression of lust, but the total orientation of one's life towards a goal" [Dietrich Bonhoeffer Letters and Papers from Prison]
chas·ti·ty )

I did some looking up today, out of curiosity. Above is some of what I found. Chastity, it seems, has conflicting meanings, or at least several interpretations. Personally, the phrase I thought fit the best was 'the term remains applicable to persons in all states, single or married, clerical or lay, and has implications beyond sexual temperance.' Chastity is at once not as simple as some may believe, yet straightforward and achievable by everyone.

[Private to friends]

As I'm sure we will all be very busy at Thanksgiving, I'm going to my retreat on the 28th and I invite you all. It will be peaceful there and I would love to be surrounded by friends while giving thanks.

I am planning on staying there for about a week, and so it's open to any of you for just as long! You are very welcome to bring friends. I usually host up to a maximum of 50 people, but if no one minds sharing rooms or making a bed of a couch or cot, then I can accommodate up to 75 people.

If anyone would like private quarters, I'll do my best to make it work, depending on who will be going.

[Public Post]

This week was very productive. It was a little cold, but it felt good to breathe the fresh air, and then to get all warmed up through outside activities. A few people have left, but we still have the weekend, and of course, more guests are welcome.

Famine! I named them. Moss, Green, and Lush. Not the most inventive names, I know, but they just......fit!

Next retreat is coming up on the 19th, lasting until the 23rd. Those unable to attend the full amount of time are welcome to come up for the weekend. It doesn't have the same effect, but it can still be very useful. It's peaceful there.

I feel as though I'm forgetting something.

Kindness....are you okay?

Famine! Thank you so much! I love them, I really really do. They are so cute! And somehow soothing. It was so thoughtful of you to send me such a wonderful gift. And such a good idea! I can take care of them.

You know, I was just about convinced I might want someone else close by me, but now I think someone else could use it more than me. It's an excellent idea, Charity, and I think it should be used for Kindness. I'm just fine. I don't like to think of anyone out on their own. I'm sure she'd be less trouble, anyway.

Also, I have lots of planning to do. Colder weather means slight adjustments in the activities and supplies on the retreat! I'm far too busy for trouble.
